Shelby Towers earned her BA in Psychology with a focus in Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of Memphis, where she completed an honors thesis on how rearing conditions affect mesolimbic dopamine release using in vivo fixed-potential amperometry. She joined the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program at UT Austin (formerly the Institute for Neuroscience) in 2020. Her dissertation investigates the interplay between sex and environmental factors in shaping social behavior and the neural mechanisms that underlie it.
